Quick answer
How long does a UK to Bali journey actually take?
Longer than the flight times suggest, because every itinerary connects. There is no UK nonstop to Bali: you fly a long sector to a Gulf or Asian hub, wait, then fly a second sector to Denpasar, and the wait is what varies most between quotes.
Two itineraries at the same fare can differ by several hours of total elapsed time depending on which hub they use and how the connection falls. The hub choice is a time decision more than a price one.
Which hub works best depends on the day and the carrier. Our guide fare is £2,222 return from London (LON), checked.
Ask for total journey time, not just the fare. On a trip this long it is the number that decides how you feel on day one.
- No UK nonstop to Bali exists
- Every itinerary connects at a Gulf or Asian hub
- Denpasar (DPS) is the island's only commercial airport
- DPS is about 13 km south of Denpasar
- Our UK fare ladder on this route is unusually flat

Starting prices by UK departure airport
Starting prices for each UK departure. Your airline and your exact fare are confirmed on your quote.
Bali quotes get compared on price because that is the number everyone publishes. On a journey with two long sectors and a wait in the middle, total elapsed time is the more useful comparison — and it varies far more than the fare does.
There is no nonstop, so the hub is the decision
No airline publishes a nonstop between the UK and Bali. Every itinerary from Britain is two sectors with a hub in between, and the realistic hubs fall into two families: the Gulf — Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi — and Asia, principally Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
What actually differs between them is not usually the fare. It is:
- Where the long sector falls. A Gulf routing puts roughly seven hours first and a longer second leg after the stop. An Asian routing puts the long haul first and a shorter hop at the end.
- How long you wait. Connection times across the realistic options range from tight to most of a morning, and that is the single biggest contributor to total journey time.
- What the second sector is. The cabin on the leg into Denpasar is not always the cabin you had on the long one, and on some routings it is a noticeably different product.
So the question worth asking is "how long is the whole thing, door to door" rather than "what does it cost". We quote both, and the fare is usually the less interesting answer.
Why your UK airport barely moves the price here
Business class to Bali is £2,222 return from London (LON), checked, with first class indicatively from £4,020.
The rest of our UK ladder sits close to it — this is one of the flatter spreads we publish for an Asian destination. That is a consequence of the structure rather than a coincidence: when every itinerary connects anyway, no UK airport has the structural advantage that a nonstop confers, and several hubs are competing for the same passenger.
The practical effect is that you can choose your departure airport on convenience and spend the decision on the hub and the connection instead. On most routes the advice runs the other way.
Denpasar (DPS), one airport for the whole island
The fare prices to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), about 13 km south of Denpasar and the only commercial airport on Bali.
That removes a category of mistake — there is no second Balinese airport to book by accident. What it does not remove is the transfer. The island's resort areas are spread out, and the drive from the airport ranges from twenty minutes for the southern beaches to a couple of hours for the north coast or the eastern islands, with a boat on top for the latter. As on any island destination, the landing time and the transfer belong in the same conversation.
If your trip pairs Bali with mainland Southeast Asia, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta all price separately here — and on a two-centre trip, building the hub into the itinerary as a stopover is often better value than treating it as a connection.
The stopover question
This is the option most Bali quotes never mention. Because every itinerary already passes through a hub, turning that connection into a night or two costs far less than adding a separate trip — and on a journey of this length it can genuinely improve the holiday rather than merely extending it.
We will price it either way. What we will not do is present a long connection as though it were a stopover, or a stopover as though it were free.
Before you compare Bali quotes
- Ask for total journey time on every option, not just the fare.
- Ask what the connection time is and whether it falls at a usable hour.
- Ask what cabin the second sector carries — it is not always the first one.
- Choose your UK airport on convenience. On this route the ladder is not where the money is.
- Tell us where on the island you are staying, and ask about a stopover if the trip allows it.
Bali is priced to Denpasar, and the island transfer beyond it is its own journey. Our guide to business class across Asia covers the island arrivals together.
FAQs
What do travellers ask about business class to Bali?

How much is business class to Bali from the UK?
The lowest indicative guide fare we currently hold is £2,222 return from London (LON), checked. The rest of the UK ladder sits close to it, which is unusual and is a consequence of every itinerary connecting anyway.
Is there a direct flight from the UK to Bali?
No airline publishes a UK to Bali nonstop. Every itinerary is two sectors with a hub in between, usually in the Gulf — Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi — or in Asia, principally Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
How long does the journey to Bali take?
Longer than the two flight times added together, because the connection is part of it. Total elapsed time varies by several hours between options depending on the hub and how the wait falls, which is why we quote journey time rather than only fare.
Which hub should I connect through for Bali?
It is mainly a time decision. A Gulf routing puts a shorter sector first and a longer one after the stop; an Asian routing does the reverse and ends with a shorter hop. Ask for total journey time on each and choose on that.
Will I have a lie-flat seat on both sectors to Bali?
Not necessarily. The cabin on the leg into Denpasar is not always the cabin you had on the long sector, and on some routings it is a noticeably different product. We name the cabin on each sector.
Does my UK departure airport matter for Bali?
Less than on most routes. Because every itinerary connects, no UK airport has the advantage a nonstop confers, and the spread on this route is one of the narrower ones we publish. Choose on convenience and spend the decision on the hub.
Which airport does this Bali fare use?
I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), about 13 km south of Denpasar. It is the only commercial airport on Bali, so there is no second-airport mistake available.
How long is the transfer from the airport?
It ranges from about twenty minutes for the southern beaches to a couple of hours for the north coast, with a boat on top for the eastern islands. The landing time and the transfer belong in the same conversation.
Can I add a stopover on the way to Bali?
Yes, and it is the option most quotes never mention. Your itinerary already passes through a hub, so turning that connection into a night or two costs far less than adding a separate trip. We will price it either way.
Is first class available to Bali?
We currently hold a first class fare from £4,020. On a connecting itinerary a first cabin would normally cover the long sector only, so we tell you which leg it applies to before you compare.
Are these Bali fares guaranteed?
No. On a two-sector journey the figure depends on the hub and the connection as much as on the date. Checked.
How do I get a Bali business class quote?
Use the enquiry form above or email info@expertsbusinessfirst.co.uk. Tell us your dates, where on the island you are staying, and whether you would consider a stopover at the hub.
