Quick answer

Which Asian city, and is it your destination or your connection?

Decide whether the city is where you are going or where you change planes. Singapore and Hong Kong are both — two of the nineteen arrivals we cover and two of the best-known premium connections onward. If you continue beyond, you are buying two sectors and the ticket should be built that way.

Delhi is the exception that catches people out: it is the one long-haul route where London is the most expensive place to start, with Birmingham the cheapest of its five UK departures.

These are dated starting prices for each arrival. Two cabin figures in this region sit implausibly close to the business one, and those arrivals say so rather than implying a bargain.

Say whether Asia is the destination or the stopover when you ask — it changes the ticket more than the cabin does.

  • Nineteen Asian arrivals, each priced separately
  • Delhi is cheapest from Birmingham, dearest from London
  • All five Singapore UK departures are Heathrow
  • Cathay flies Manchester to Hong Kong nonstop daily
  • Lowest Asian guide fare £1,410 to Delhi

Asia is the region where two different questions get confused. One is which city you need to be in. The other is which city you change planes in — and on several of these routes the answer to the second one is also a destination we cover. Getting them the wrong way round is how people buy two sectors when they wanted one.

Destination or connection?

Singapore, Hong Kong, Doha and Dubai are the best-known premium connections between Britain and Asia, and Singapore and Hong Kong are also two of the arrivals priced here. If you get off at Changi, that is one journey. If you continue to Australia, you are buying two sectors and should say so, because we price the full shape rather than the first half of it.

Say which one you are doing when you ask. It changes the routing we look for before it changes the price.

Northeast Asia

The group where the UK departure behaves least predictably. On current guide fares Tokyo puts Glasgow at the bottom of its ladder and London fourth of five, which is the reverse of what most people expect on a Japan route. Hong Kong has the region's most useful regional nonstop: Cathay Pacific flies daily from Manchester on the Airbus A350-900, published at about twelve and a half hours — though Manchester is also the dearest of its five UK departures.

Southeast Asian gateways

Singapore is the case worth understanding before you compare anything: all five of its UK departures are London Heathrow, so there is no meaningful comparison to draw, and we say so rather than setting an airport against itself. Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Jakarta are almost always the destination itself rather than a connection.

Islands and beach arrivals

The group where arriving at the airport is not the same as arriving. The Maldives fare prices Malé, and the resort transfer beyond it is a separate journey with its own timings — a late arrival can mean a night near the airport before you reach the island. Penang carries one of the widest UK departure spreads of any Asian arrival we cover, and Langkawi is the destination where our premium economy figure sits closest to the business one.

India

Delhi is one of the arrivals where London is the most expensive place to start, rather than the cheapest. On current guide fares Birmingham is the cheapest UK departure and London the dearest of five — a complete inversion of the pattern almost every other long-haul route follows, and a reason to ask for both rather than assuming Heathrow.

Thailand

Thailand has its own guide, because the decision there is a different one: Bangkok takes the UK nonstops and the islands connect, and all three islands cost less than Bangkok rather than more. See business class to Thailand for the routing and the cabin detail.

Where the UK airport matters most

Across these nineteen arrivals the UK departure does very different amounts of work. On Delhi it inverts the usual order and London is the dearest start. On Tokyo it puts Glasgow at the bottom. On Penang the spread between cheapest and dearest is among the widest in the region. On Singapore there is nothing to compare, because every departure is the same London airport.

That is why the departure comparison lives on each arrival rather than here. Tell us the airport you can actually reach and we will price from it.

Which airlines compete on UK–Asia premium?

  • Singapore Airlines — Changi as destination or connection; the UK sector and the next one are different products.
  • Cathay Pacific — Hong Kong is the hub, and the Manchester nonstop is the regional exception.
  • Qatar Airways and Emirates — Gulf one-stops reaching most of this map, with the widest UK regional departure coverage.
  • British Airways — the UK nonstops where they operate on your dates.

Nineteen fares, not one Asia price

Each arrival is priced on its own page with the date it was checked. On the lowest Asian guide fare was £1,410, to Delhi.

These are dated starting prices, and they are not a ranking. Two of these arrivals carry cabin figures we would not rely on — Osaka's premium economy and Langkawi's both sit implausibly close to the business figure — and each page says so rather than letting the gap imply a bargain.

What moves these fares

Across the 19 arrivals in this group the guide fares currently run from £1,410 for Delhi to £2,368 for Osaka — one region, two very different tickets.

Within a single arrival, the UK airport you start from does more work than most travellers expect. We can price 18 of these 19 arrivals from more than one UK airport — London, Birmingham (BHX), Glasgow (GLA), Manchester (MAN), Newcastle (NCL) — and on 6 of them the cheapest departure is not London. The widest gap in the group is Maldives: £1,974 from London against £2,769 from Glasgow (GLA) — the same journey, on the same dates.

Three things move these numbers beyond the departure airport: your travel dates, how much of the cabin is still open when you book, and which airline and routing the ticket uses. None of them shows in a headline price, which is why we price your own dates before anything is committed. How our fares work sets out the method in full — what a guide fare is, how the “from” figure is chosen, and the claims we do not make about it.

Asia business class FAQs

Questions that span the region. City-specific questions sit with each arrival.

Choosing your city

Which Asian destination should I choose for business class from the UK?

Choose the city that matches your diary. Singapore is the city-state (SIN). Bangkok is Thailand (BKK). Hong Kong is HKG. Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia (KUL). Open the city page for the itinerary you named — do not pick an airline advert first.

How do Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur differ?

Four countries and four airports. Singapore is Changi and often Singapore Airlines. Bangkok is Thailand’s capital gateway. Hong Kong is HKG, often with Cathay Pacific. Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s capital metro at KUL. They are not interchangeable arrivals.

Is Kuala Lumpur the same as Singapore?

No. Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia (KUL). Singapore is the city-state (SIN). Different countries, airports and ground transfers. Use the Kuala Lumpur page when the diary says KL.

What about Tokyo, Bali or other Asian cities?

We can quote other Asian cities on request. Name the city on the enquiry even if it is not listed among the four detailed destination pages above.

Airports and airlines

Which airports matter for these Asia destinations?

Singapore → SIN (Changi). Bangkok → BKK (Suvarnabhumi on our city page — not DMK by default). Hong Kong → HKG. Kuala Lumpur → KUL. Confirm the airport code on the ticket.

Which airlines are relevant for UK–Asia business class?

Singapore Airlines into Singapore (and sometimes other constructions), Cathay Pacific into Hong Kong, British Airways on some Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur shapes, plus Gulf one-stops (Qatar, Emirates) when the suite or fare is the point. City pages name selective links only — we do not force every airline onto every week.

Should I connect in the Gulf to Asia?

Only if the suite or the fare is worth the extra hours. A Doha or Dubai stop is not a shortcut when a suitable nonstop or home-carrier sector into your city exists.

Fares and booking

How do UK departure airports affect Asia fares?

We price UK departures from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle. Heathrow usually offers the wider long-haul mix. Those rows are guides, not promised nonstops. Name the airport you can reach.

Why do business class fares to Asia vary by city?

Each city is a separate fare entity. We will not flatten them into one “Asia from £x” headline. Checked, the indicative business fares were Singapore £2,136, Bangkok £2,101, Hong Kong £2,169 and Kuala Lumpur £2,214 — a briefing across four destinations, not a live ranking or a savings claim.

Are these Asia fares guaranteed?

No. They are indicative fares as of the date shown on each city page. If the fare has moved, we send current options. We do not claim exclusive or best price without evidence.

How do I get an exact quote for Asia?

Use the enquiry form or email info@expertsbusinessfirst.co.uk. Name the Asian city, UK airport, dates and cabin. We confirm what financial protection applies to your booking on the quote.
