Etihad Airways · Business & First Class
Is Abu Dhabi the Gulf stop you meant to buy — and which Business Studio is on the aircraft?
Etihad is the Abu Dhabi connection, not a quieter Dubai. Business Studio is a brand: some aircraft have a sliding door, the A380 has The Lobby, many have neither as a selling point. We confirm the metal.
- Abu Dhabi hub — not Dubai
- Business Studio varies by aircraft

Quick answer
Is Abu Dhabi the Gulf stop you meant, and which Business Studio flies it?
Abu Dhabi is not a quieter Dubai — it is a different airport with a different connection and lounge system. Business Studio is a brand rather than one seat: some aircraft have a sliding door, the A380 carries The Lobby, and many have neither as a selling point.
Etihad flies Heathrow and Manchester, where most Manchester services are Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airport is commonly called Zayed International (AUH), and terminal arrangements change.
Route facts checked 15 September 2026. Etihad Guest is not Avios, so mileage earning depends on the fare family we ticket rather than on the airline alone.
Name Abu Dhabi deliberately rather than accepting it as a Dubai substitute — the connection and the onward sector are what differ.
- Abu Dhabi, not Dubai — a different hub
- Business Studio varies by aircraft
- The A380 carries The Lobby

Etihad is the Abu Dhabi (AUH) Gulf carrier. That is a different city from Dubai and a different connection from Doha. People often shop it as “the cheaper Gulf option”. We will not print a percentage. We will tell you whether AUH fits the itinerary, and which version of Business Studio is on the flights — because the brand name covers more than one seat.

Abu Dhabi is not a quieter spelling of Dubai
UK long-haul on Etihad goes via Abu Dhabi. Emirates goes via Dubai. Qatar goes via Doha. Those are three airports, three elapsed-time stories, and three lounge systems. A “calmer hub” is only useful if the connection is realistic and the onward city is one Etihad actually serves well. It is not a reason to add a Gulf sector when a nonstop exists — see Los Angeles.
The airport is commonly called Zayed International (AUH). Terminal arrangements change; we put the terminal that is on your ticket in the itinerary, not a remembered 2023 press release.
Do not treat Dubai business class and an Etihad ticket as substitutes. One is a city (or an Emirates hub). The other is Abu Dhabi metal.
Business Studio is a brand, not a guarantee
Etihad sells long-haul business as Business Studio. That usually means a 1-2-1 suite with a fully flat bed. It does not mean Qsuite, and it does not mean every aircraft is the same.
- A sliding privacy door is typical on Etihad’s A350 Business Studio. It is not typical on the A380 Studio, and many 787s still fly without that door.
- Centre pairs can share a conversation when the divider is lowered. They do not form a Qsuite-style double bed.
- Retrofits continue. Aircraft swap. If a door is why you chose Etihad, say so — we confirm the type before you treat the suite as enclosed.
That is a different check from Qatar (is Qsuite fitted at all?) and from Emirates (is this an A380 with a bar, and which fare family?). Same discipline, different product.
The Lobby is an A380 reason — not a fleet feature
On A380 services Etihad has operated The Lobby: a small social space on the upper deck between business and first, not Emirates’ horseshoe bar. 787 and A350 flights do not give you that room. If you are booking Etihad for The Lobby, you are booking an A380 itinerary, not “Etihad” as a slogan.
Dine Anytime is Etihad’s name for eating when you choose rather than waiting for a single trolley pass. What is loaded, and whether a dedicated dining manager is on that cabin, follows the flight. We will not write a wine list here.
Starting from the UK
Recent UK gateways have included London Heathrow — usually Terminal 4 — and Manchester. That is not a published timetable. Frequencies and terminals move. Name the airport you can use. Positioning to Heathrow plus a hotel is a different ticket from a Manchester start.
We do not have a separate guide to Heathrow departures. Tell us your departure airport on the enquiry form, or see business class flights from the UK.
Etihad Guest is not Avios
Etihad is not in oneworld, Star Alliance or SkyTeam. Miles sit in Etihad Guest. They will not behave like British Airways or Qatar Avios, and Etihad status will not open alliance lounges the way a oneworld or Star card does. If Avios is how you travel, read Qatar Airways and British Airways before you assume Etihad is “the same Gulf trip with a cheaper headline”.
Transfer partnerships exist and change. We confirm earning on the fare family we ticket; we do not publish a live award chart.
When Abu Dhabi is the commercial shape
We price Etihad when AUH is a sensible one-stop toward a city Etihad serves, and when the Studio variant (door, Lobby, or neither) matches what you asked for. We do not price it as a shortcut, and we do not call it cheapest.
Destination pages this ticket sometimes sits beside (indicative city fares, not Etihad-only prices):
- Singapore
- Sydney and Melbourne
- Dubai — only if Dubai is actually the city, which is usually Emirates geography
- Riyadh — RUH destination when AUH is a useful connection
South Asia is often where Etihad looks commercially interesting on a quote. Ask us for Delhi or other South Asian cities — we can quote them even when a full destination page is not yet published.
What Experts Business First confirms
- UK airport you can actually use (Heathrow vs Manchester vs a positioning sector).
- Whether AUH elapsed time beats a nonstop or a DXB/DOH connection on the same brief.
- Aircraft: A380 Lobby vs A350-style door vs a Studio with neither.
- Fare family extras (chauffeur, baggage, mileage) — named, not assumed.

Etihad from the UK — practical questions
Is Etihad the same as Emirates with a different logo?
No. Etihad uses Abu Dhabi (AUH). Emirates uses Dubai (DXB). Different city, different aircraft mix, different loyalty programme. We will not ticket them as interchangeable.
Does Etihad Business Studio have a closing door?
Sometimes. A sliding door is typical on Etihad’s A350 Business Studio. The A380 Studio and many 787s do not. If a door is the reason you chose Etihad, we confirm the aircraft on the quote.
What is The Lobby?
A small A380 upper-deck social space between business and first. It is not on 787 or A350 flights. Want The Lobby? You want an A380 itinerary, not “any Etihad”.
Does Etihad have a double bed in business class?
No. Centre-pair dividers can lower for conversation. That is not a Qsuite-style double bed.
Which UK airports does Etihad use?
Recent services have included Heathrow (usually Terminal 4) and Manchester. Schedules and terminals change. Name the origin you can use.
Can I use Avios on Etihad?
Not as a oneworld Avios ticket. Etihad is not in a global alliance. Miles sit in Etihad Guest. Qatar and British Airways are the Avios conversation.
How much is Etihad business class from the UK?
We do not publish a live Etihad-only “from” fare here, and we make no 10–20% claim versus rivals. Our indicative Abu Dhabi city figure is not a checkout price for every Etihad ticket. We quote your dates. Call +447348617176.
Is baggage 40kg in Etihad business?
Allowance follows the fare family and can change. We print the allowance that belongs to the ticket we issue, not a generic kilogram figure from an old brochure.
Is an Abu Dhabi connection better than Doha or Dubai?
It is different geography. It can be the right one-stop when Etihad serves your city and the Studio variant matches. It is extra elapsed time when a nonstop exists. We show the clock honestly.
Are bookings ATOL protected?
Bookings Experts Business First tickets are ATOL protected where the scheme applies (ATOL protected).
